Student Leadership Series Seminars (TODAY)
The Office of Student Life is excited to announce the NWACC Student Leadership Series.
This is a series of seminars, taught by experts in the subject, that will help strengthen and build student club leaders and members. It will also help students build skills that they will be able to take out into the workforce with them. In order to find times that worked for more students, for most of the sessions we tried to plan a time on a Monday or Wednesday and a Tuesday or Thursday. Students and club advisors are strongly encouraged to attend. Staff and faculty are welcome to attend.
The sessions will include the following:
- March 9 at 11-12 in SC 108A “Using Parliamentary Procedure in Meetings” facilitated by Walter Hinejosa, NWACC Faculty
- March 12 at 11-12 in BH 1444 “Using Parliamentary Procedure in Meetings” facilitated by Walter Hinejosa, NWACC Faculty

Service Learning Opportunity to Mentor
Elmdale Elementary School in Springdale is seeking mentors for their students. Principal Michele Hutton describes the mentor program as such: We want mentors to come at lunch time and eat lunch with a small group or with individual students, one on one. It’s to provide a caring adult in their lives. We welcome mentors who will listen to them and encourage them. We want the mentors to tell them about college and the importance of getting an education. However, we have planned for the mentoring to be done in a relaxed environment. A couple of our mentors bring UNO cards, they play and talk. We really just want our kids to have someone who cares about them because they often don’t get that kind of caring attention at home.
Lunchtime Schedule: 3rd graders 11:30am-Noon; 4th graders, 12:05-12:35pm; 5th graders 12:15-12:45pm. To learn about participating in this program, contact Stephanie Hinsey, shinsey@sdale.org or 479-750-8859.
